About the Boat

The Water Tractor II is a 27’ Tiara open.  It has twin 350 v8 motors, 3 cannon tournament series down riggers, hummingbird electronics and a fish hawk for speed and temperature information at depth.  The boat carries enough gear to comfortably run lines through the entire water column and keep lures in the strike zone in all conditions.  It has a 10’ beam making it a pretty stable fishing platform in most sea conditions. THE BOAT HAS A RESTROOM ONBOARD.

ABOUT THE CAPTAIN

Captain Jimmy SPENCER has loved fishing since he was 4 years old. It began with catching perch through the cracks in the dock on Crooked Lake with his Mother.  At 10 years old, he discovered trout and salmon. In the Spring time he chased steelhead in creeks and rivers, Summers were spent fly fishing in the trout pond and local rivers, fall was devoted to river fishing for salmon and winter was fishing through the ice. Anytime he wasn’t in sports or working he was fishing.

For the last 17 years, Jimmy has spent May through September trolling the waters of Little Traverse Bay chasing lake trout, steelhead and salmon.  On average,  his boat Water Tractor logs 150-200 trips per season.  The time away from land and work helps balance the potentially all consuming job of running Pond Hill Farm.

His passion for big lake fishing has been shared with friends, family and patrons of the farm for almost 20 years. He absolutely loves taking people out on the big water and introducing them to the bounty and beauty this area has to offer.

Although time only permits the water tractor to participate in a few tournaments a year,  they have had good tournament success by catching the LARGEST KING SALMON & LARGEST LAKE TROUT EVER CAUGHT in the 38 year history of the Charlevoix area Trout Tournament.
